Richard Fadal Central Texas gardeners face an array of problems – from extreme heat and drought conditions to plant-killing pests and drenching downpours. It’s a challenge, especially if they want to grow “green.” 

Our Green Gardener, Richard Fadal, ASLA of Texascapes, shows Central Texans how to have an environmentally conscious green thumb despite these challenges.

Fadal was the first commercial landscape contractor in Austin to maintain commercial grounds commercial grounds maintenance using organic-based methods, and today Texascapes also provides landscape designs and installations for discerning homeowners and businesses.

We have a huge (trunk is about 18 inches in diameter) mesquite tree. Can we cut the dead wood out, trim it up, and expect it to put out new branches?  This tree shades our carport. We'd hate to lose it.
