The Manchaca Fire Department is responding to criticism after a fire destroyed a home in south Travis County earlier this week.

Several neighbors complained that it took too long for firefighters to arrive to a house fire in the Onion Creek Meadows neighborhood.  Neighbors also raised concerns about the way the fire was fought.

The fire department said they responded within eight minutes, which they said is good for the area.  They also said the blaze was well-involved when they arrived and it was being fed by a lot of combustible material.

The chief said fire crews did a fair job considering the fire.

Firefighters have contacted the homeowners association to discuss what happened.
