Accused Austin wrong way driver identified

Austin police have filed new charges against a man accused of crashing into a car after driving the wrong way down Interstate 35 across the city.

Primitivo Islas is charged with three felonies -- intoxication assault, evading arrest and aggravated assault with a motor vehicle.

The Department of Public Safety says one of its troopers tried to stop Islas’ car while he was racing another driver.  DPS says Islas crashed on I-35 near William Cannon Dr. then drove northbound in the southbound lane all the way to Parmer Lane in North Austin, where he crashed into another car.
