It started as a way to honor fallen soldiers and their families. Now, a jeweler in Dripping Springs is getting flooded with orders for a bracelet he is offering at no cost.
The response has been overwhelming but the jeweler is determined to ship every order.
Wes Weaver of Carved Creations said it's a burden he shoulders with pride.
"Literally within the first five days we probably had received over a thousand orders and we're well over fifteen hundred orders right now," Weaver said.
Weaver's equipment is working overtime. It's etching the names of fallen soldiers, airmen and Marines into stainless steel bracelets.
They're specially designed for parents and spouses who lost loved ones in Iraq or Afghanistan.
"It just seemed like out of the products that we make it seemed like the most appropriate way," Weaver said. "I didn't have to worry about finger sizes and those kind of things. It seemed like to be the easiest things that we can impliment to honor these people that have had their son or daughter killed in action."
The overwhelming work means Weaver needs help.
"The way that we're going to be able to make it is I basically have to keep my machinery running all the hours even when my business isn't even open," Weaver said.
Volunteers are already taking time out of their busy schedules to assist.
"It's a good feeling to be able to do this and help," volunteer Michelle Hoggatt said.
Weaver said the bracelets would normally sell for two hundred dollars.
The business is taking orders through July 4th but Weaver and his volunteers are expected to be making the bracelets through at least September.
