The
Lakeway Resort and Spa is as old as the city of Lakeway itself.
Originally called the Lakeway Inn, this hill country hideaway was part
of the original development plan for the Lakeway community. At the
outset, the city of Lakeway was made up mostly of retirees,
but as the decades progressed and Lakeway grew in popularity the
demographics began to change. Young families started moving in the
area as the stigma of being a retirement community began to vanish.
In 2005 the Lakeway Inn changed its name to Lakeway Resort and
Spa, as it’s known today. The long-standing resort was to make the
necessary changes in order to provide the best lakefront experience
available to its new clientele. A massive redevelopment project took
place adding a new spa, ballroom, meeting space, swimming pool, and
luxury villas, enhancing the resort to the pristine getaway it is now.
“What we provide is an opportunity for people to get away, enjoy
themselves, enjoy the water, recharge their batteries,” explains
Michael Swyney, the Regional Director of Sales and Marketing for
Lakeway Resort and Spa. “[It’s] so easy to play golf, to go to the spa
and relax, to sit at the pool lounge, or more importantly to get out on
the lake and have some fun…it great out here.”
One of the best new features of the resort is the addition of the
San Saba Spa, a state-of-the-art facility overlooking beautiful Lake
Travis from high on a terrace. The spa comes loaded with signature
services for men and women including: massages, facials, wraps,
manicures, pedicures, and other soothing treatments sure to relax your
mind and body as you take in the peaceful ambiance of the spa’s décor.
In view of the spa is the newly renovated pool area, an infinity
edge design complete with three tiers, a swim-up bar for adults, and a
looping 20-foot waterslide for children. Poolside cabanas are also
available for rent during the day offering a relaxing break from the
Texas heat. They come outfitted with cushioned seating, ceiling fans,
a television, and complimentary bottled water and a fruit plate.
No resort would be complete without a wonderful lakeside dining
experience. Executive Chef David Reinbold has created a unique blend
of flavors by combining Continental cuisine with a
Southwestern flair sure to satisfy the appetite of even the most
discriminating palates. There are two restaurants located on the
facility. Travis Restaurant is the more formal dining experience for
those guests who want to eat in style. And Josey’s Bar and Grill is
the casual restaurant featuring flat panel televisions and pool tables
to wind down the night. Of course, being on Lake Travis
you’ll want to get out on the lake at some point, and Lakeway Marina
provides a multitude of avenues to enjoy the boating experience. There
are private charter yachts for groups of up to 80 people, a wide
assortment of ski and fishing boats, numerous wave runners and pontoon
boats, and a full assortment of water equipment from wake boards to
inner tubes.
Even with all these nice facilities and activities to choose from
Lakeway Resort and Spa couldn’t provide the best resort-style
experience without their highly acclaimed personalized guest services.
“[It] doesn’t matter if it’s a weekend or weekday, we provide value to
each and every customer,” says Swyney. Great service is a priority of
Lakeway Resort and Spa and it shows by the large amount of customers
that return to the resort year after year.
Located 18 miles from downtown Austin, Lakeway Resort and Spa is a
lakefront destination that allows people to get away from the urban
sprawl of a busy city and find themselves relaxing in a luxurious spa,
playing a round of golf, or cruising the lake on a boat. It’s also a
great place to plan a wedding or event with the romantic backdrop of
the Texas Hill Country. Lakeway Resort and Spa has revolutionized the
city of Lakeway, starting in the 1960’s and extending into the
lakefront community’s future.
