One week from today is the official start of the holiday shopping season. And if you're short on money and ideas KEYE TV's Fred Cantu has some consumer electronic gift suggestions.
If you're really short on money, this will make the gamer on your gift list happy and only set you back $20. It's a Wii ''motion plus'' adapter that accentuates your movements.
Consumer electronics expert, Ryan Harris of Best Buy says, ''It's going to bring you into the game a little bit more than just sitting there with the controller not really doing anything.''
And you can see it makes the game more of a workout.
Got a little more to spend, the Sandisk sanza fuse media player is way cheaper than an iPod but it still holds 2,000 songs and it has an FM tuner.
''So if you're jogging... You don't have to listen just to the playlists you created... You can also listen to the radio,” says Harris.
Speaking of radio, HD radio is coming down in price. This walkman size ''insignia'' HD radio lets you listen to the so-called ''hidden stations'' for only $50.
TV's are cheaper this year, too. Panasonic has a new 50-inch plasma TV for just under $800. Last year this size plasma would have been at least 50 percent higher.
And the new blu-ray DVD players are becoming more affordable, too. A new Samsung unit is just under $170 and in addition to playing high definition disks, it also can download high defenition from the internet.
Harris says, ''So you don't have to wait for the mail for your Netflix or even Blockbuster has that service. You can have it come directly to your blu-ray player.''
And you normally wouldn't think of Apple's Macbook as being an inexpensive gift, but an entry level Macbook for less than $1000 is a bargain.
As you head out to the stores this holiday shopping season, the good news is that many of the most popular consumer electronics gifts are actually on sale. But make sure to check the store's return policies in case you have any problems.
