An inmate working at Lockhart State Park disappeared Friday afternoon.

Eddie Espinoza Gonzales is a trusty-status inmate assignecd to a park workshop.  A park ranger found a black and white striped jail uniform in the workshop and a Texas Parks and Wildlife uniform was missing. 

Caldwell County deputies searched the area but did not find Gonzales. 

Gonzales, 35, is 6 foot 1, 160 pounds. He has collar length black hair, brown eyes, no facial hair, a scar on left knee and a tattoo of a long stemmed rose just below the bend of the right elbow.

He was serving a 180 day sentence for driving while license suspended and for failure to appear. 
   
Detectives do not know why Gonzales would escape from custody since he would have completed serving the sentence and be released in nine days.
