    The Austin Community College choral students have received a big honor - an invitation to perform at Carnegie Hall next spring. 

    To help finance the trip, the ACC Choral Department will stage the Broadway musical The 1940’s Radio Hour at One World Theatre on November 17th through 19th.ACC choir

    The musical replicates a 1942 live radio broadcast - complete with vocal jazz numbers, an onstage big band, commercials and mystery theater.

    Proceeds from production will help ACC choral students cover the cost of a trip to perform at Carnegie Hall next spring.  The group is among a select few community college ensembles that will perform at Carnegie Hall in April 2010.

    “This is a very exciting time for our choir program,” said Dr. Jim Shepherd, Associate Professor of Music and the ACC Choir Director. “Students will have the experience of performing in a beloved musical at One World Theatre, and then the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to sing at Carnegie Hall.”

    Performances will be Tue., Nov. 17, at 7:30 p.m.; and Wed. and Thu., Nov. 18 and 19, at 11:30 a.m. and 7:30 p.m.  Tickets are Admission is $12.50 for adults and $7.50 for seniors, children, and students. 

    In addition, the matinee performances are free for students and seniors.  Advanced ticket sales are available online at www.AustinCC.edu/choral.
